FAQ
Questions? We’ve got answers.
Everything you need to know before your first run with RUNCLUB.
Who can join RUNCLUB?
Anyone. We are a diverse, international mix of runners, from absolute beginners to seasoned marathoners. On a typical Sunday, runners from more than 20 nationalities join us. Regardless of skill, ability, gender or background, you are welcome.
I have never run before. Am I too slow?
No. We train on time and intensity rather than fixed distances, so everyone starts and finishes together as one team. And our golden rule is No Runner Left Behind: if the gap between the front and the back gets too big, the group loops back. Read our Beginner's Guide for tips on getting started.
How do I join my first run?
Check the weekly schedule, pick a session and just show up a few minutes early. Introduce yourself to one of our experience hosts and they'll help you find the right group. For the latest meeting point details, check our Facebook events or Reclub.
What should I bring?
Comfortable running shoes, light clothing, water (it's hot in Saigon!), and a positive attitude. A phone or GPS watch is handy but not required.
What happens if it rains?
We run. RUNCLUB never cancels a run: sessions go ahead regardless of rain, holidays or post-race fatigue. Consistency is one of our core principles.
Which Sunday pace group should I pick?
Team Sloth (7:00+ min/km) is perfect if you're new or want an easy run. Team Lion (around 6:15 min/km) suits intermediate runners, and Team Cheetah (around 5:30 min/km) is for faster runners. If in doubt, start in a slower group. You can always move up next week.
Where exactly do we meet?
Most sessions start at Sala (Thu Thiem / Flower Bridge area). Wednesday intervals take place in District 7, and the Sunday long run location can vary. See the Training page for the current locations and check Facebook events for any changes.
Do I need to speak English?
No. RUNCLUB is an international community and Vietnamese and English are our common languages on the road. It's a great place to make friends from all over the world.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely, please do! Running is more fun together. Share this website or our Facebook group with your friends and colleagues. Every new face makes the community stronger.
Can I take photos during runs?
Yes, but respect everyone's privacy: always ask permission before posting photos of other runners.
Can I promote my business in the group?
No. We have zero tolerance for spammers and sellers, and this is strictly enforced on our social channels. If you'd like to support RUNCLUB as a partner or sponsor, get in touch through our Sponsor page. If you have something that benefits our runners or the running community, get in touch and we are happy to give you approval to post.
I'm injured or feel pain when running. What should I do?
Rest and see a professional if pain persists. Our Monday strength sessions focus on injury prevention, and our long-time member Stefan Laporte, a French osteopath, shares excellent injury prevention and recovery videos on his SafeMotions YouTube channel.
Is there a members area?
A members area is coming soon. Existing members with an account can already sign in via the Members Login page.
